Nalbari (Assam), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed hope that 'Surya Tilak' of Lord Ram at the Ayodhya temple will bring energy to people's lives and inspire the country to scale new heights.

Addressing an election rally here, the Prime Minister said that after 500 years, the birth anniversary of Lord Ram is being celebrated with 'Surya Tilak' ceremony in the temple of Ayodhya.

"There is a new atmosphere in the entire country because we are celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Ram in our own home after 500 years and this is the culmination of centuries of devotion and generations of sacrifice," he said at the rally.

Ram Lalla's 'Surya Tilak' was performed in Ayodhya on Wednesday afternoon on the occasion of Ram Navami, using an elaborate apparatus consisting of mirrors and lenses to direct the sun's rays onto the forehead of Ram's idol. .

''After my Nalbari rally, I had the privilege of witnessing the wonderful, incomparable moment of Surya Tilak of Ram Lala in Ayodhya. Like crores of Indians, this is a very emotional moment for me," the Prime Minister posted with an 'X' along with two photographs of himself watching the ceremony on a tablet.

He said that the grand Ram Navami celebration in Ayodhya is historic.

He said, "May this Surya Tilak bring energy to our lives and may it inspire our country to touch new heights of glory."

“This much-awaited moment at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi is a moment of joy for all. This 'Surya Tilak' will similarly illuminate every resolution of developed India with its divine energy," he said on the microblogging site.

The Prime Minister urged people to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' several times on the occasion of Ram Navami and expressed hope that Indians across the world would witness the celebrations.
