New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted people on Eid and prayed that the festival spreads the spirit of compassion, unity and peace.

In a post on X, he said, "Everyone stay happy and healthy. Eid Mubarak!"

Eid is being celebrated in Kerala and Ladakh on Wednesday, while in the rest of the country it will be celebrated on April 11.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

The festival is celebrated on different days across the world and is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which is considered to signal the beginning of the month of Shawwal in the lunar Islamic calendar.
