Kolkata: A special PMLA court on Monday extended the judicial custody of suspended Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Shaikh till May 13 in a money laundering case over alleged misappropriation of cash under the garb of fish farming business.

Sheikh was arrested by the ED on March 30 in connection with the mob attack on agency officials when they went to search his premises in Sandeshkhal in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on January 5 in connection with another money laundering case. Were.

The ED has accused Shaikh of money laundering through misappropriation of ill-gotten wealth obtained by grabbing land from helpless villagers in the form of fish farming business.

Shaikh is also an accused in the mob attack on ED officials, where he was attacked by around 1,00 people who had gone to search his premises in Sarberia village on January 5 in connection with the ration distribution scam case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the attack case following a direction from the Calcutta High Court, with Shaikh accused of masterminding the mob attack on ED officials.
