A woman walking on the roadside was hit by a speeding car in Pune city of Pune, Maharashtra, injuring herself. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Hinjewadi area on Tuesday afternoon and a clip of its CCTV footage surfaced on social media, in which the car is seen leaving the road and hitting the woman, who was thrown into the air and fell at some distance.

A Pimpri Chinchwad police official said that prima facie, it appeared that the car driver lost control over the wheels.

He said it was not a case of drunk driving and the woman, a resident of neighboring Mumbai, had not filed a complaint yet.

"The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the car left the road and hit the woman walking on the roadside. The woman suffered injuries. Soon after the incident her brother and uncle reached there and took her home. They informed us. Officials “They will go to the police station to lodge a formal complaint,” he said.

The officer said that the incident is being investigated.
