Shubhakaran Singh, a 21-year-old farmer from Bathinda, died during a clash between security personnel and protesting farmers at Khanauri on the Punjab-Haryana border. 12 police personnel were also injured in the clashes.

Mann wrote on Twitter, "Met the martyred farmer's family...As promised, the family was given a check of Rs 1 crore and an appointment letter for a government job."

He said, "The farmers' own government is standing shoulder to shoulder with the farmers and will continue to stand."

In February, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance and employment assistance for the family of late farmer Shubhakaran Singh.

“The Punjab government will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of Shubhakaran Singh, who was martyred during the farmers' protest at Khanauri border, and his younger sister will be given a government job. Appropriate legal action will be taken against the culprits,” Mann had said.
