The Athletic Federation of India (AFI) has announced a 14-strong squad for the Rack Walking Team Championships and with less than three months left for the quadrangular showpiece, it will be an opportunity for others to also grab their place in Paris .

Priyanka, the national record holder and silver medalist in the 10,000m walk at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, has produced some credible performances recently.She finished a commendable seventh in the 20km event at the Chinese Race Walkin' Grand Prix last month, and her performance here will give a fair idea of ​​her preparations heading into Paris.

The 28-year-old from Muzaffarnagar in UP will compete in the mixed event, which has been included in the Olympic program for the first time and will require the athlete to cover the full marathon distance of 42.195 km.

The other Indian pair in the mixed event is Munita Prajapati and Paramji Singh.

The top 22 teams in the mixed category, which will be conducted in a relay format, will qualify for Paris.

As per the format, the initial 12.195 km distance will have to be covered by male athletes, while the next 10 km distance will have to be covered by female athletes.The next 20 km will be shared equally, with female athletes completing the last 10 km to the finish line.

Apart from this, Indian race walkers will also compete in men's and women's 20km race walk.

Last month, Ram Babu achieved the Paris Olympics men's 20km race qualification standard by clocking a personal best of 1:20:00 en route to a bronze medal at the Dudinska 50 meet in Slovakia.
