LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board is waiting to hear about the fitness status of its four young fast bowlers who are being considered as possible replacements for the national team across all formats.

Bowlers currently under rehabilitation or awaiting related surgeries to resolve injury issues include Ihsanullah, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Arshad Iqbal and Zeeshan Zameer.

The PCB has authorized a medical panel comprising Professor Rana Dilawaz Nadeem, Dr Mumrez Naqshband and Professor Javed Akram to monitor and supervise the rehabilitation and other recovery treatments of these players.

Both Iqbal and Zameer have been sidelined with knee injuries and have been recommended to Qatar's Aspetar Institute. Iqbal will soon get himself examined by this institute.

Right-arm fast bowler Zeeshan is scheduled to undergo surgery in Qatar next week after the decision was finalized following a review of his medical report earlier this month.

On his part, Ihsanullah, who has had his elbow operated twice in Faisalabad and Lahore, underwent the initial phase of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and is currently back home in Swat, and is undergoing treatment under PCB-approved physiotherapists. Ihsanullah made his international debut in the white-ball format last year.
