New Delhi, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday met BJP leader B Mahtab before President Draupadi Murmu was sworn in as the Protem Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Rijiju was also accompanied by his deputies Arjun Ram Meghwal and L Murugan.
Rijiju wrote on Twitter, "Had the privilege of meeting Shri Bhartrihari Mahtab ji before the swearing-in ceremony as Protem Speaker of Lok Sabha..."
He said, "His wisdom and experience will be invaluable as we embark on this journey. Look forward to working together. Best wishes to him."
Mahtab has been tasked with presiding over the Lok Sabha proceedings on June 24 and 25 when the new members will take oath as Members of Parliament.
He will be assisted by a panel of chairpersons.
On Wednesday, Mahtab – a seven-time Lok Sabha member – will oversee the election of the new Speaker.
