New Delhi [India], After Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign ended surprisingly early in the group stage, captain Babar Azam and five other players decided to extend their stay in the United States, according to Geo News.

Babar will leave for Pakistan on June 22 along with Imad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan.

Mohammad Amir is also staying with the players but will travel to England in a few days to join Derbyshire in the County Championship.

It was also reported that Pakistan white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten would return home after his team failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage. The remaining members of the squad will board their flight from Miami on Monday night and return to Pakistan.Pakistan ended their campaign with a three-wicket win over Ireland in Florida on Sunday, a big win after India and the US reached the Super 8 stage from Group A.

Pakistan, placed in Group A, faced consecutive defeats to co-host America and then to its arch-rival India.

They bounced back with two consecutive wins, but it was not enough to turn around their disappointing campaign and secure a spot in the Super 8s.

After concluding their campaign with a win against Ireland on Sunday, Babar admitted that Pakistan had good players but they failed to perform as a team.

Babar said, “We have a good group of players.We have to go home, have a conversation and see where we are lacking and then come back. Couldn't finish close games, we weren't good as a team." Post-match presentation.

After Pakistan's early exit, questions were raised about Babar's future as Pakistan's white-ball captain.

Addressing a press conference, he talked about his future and assured that if he decides to step down as captain again he will tell everyone "openly".

"The second thing - about captaincy - when I left it, I thought I shouldn't do it anymore, so I left it and I announced it myself," Babar said in the post-match press conference."
