Berlin [Germany], Jamal Musiala's brilliant performance in the opening match of Euro 2024 helped Germany seal a sensational 5-1 win over Scotland at the iconic Allianz Arena in Munich.

Julian Nagelsmann's men were dominant from the start of the game and did not give Scotland any chances to score in the game.

Germany were looking bright in the early stages of the game, with Wirtz trying to get past the Scottish defence, but the Scotland goalkeeper made a solid save to level the scoreline.

In just the 10th minute of the match, Florian Rietz opened the scoreline for the Germans with a low and powerful strike into the bottom corner. Joshua Kimmich assisted after controlling the ball well down the middle before heading the ball to Reitz.The 21-year-old German striker also became the youngest player to score his first goal in the European Championship. Rietz also became the youngest German footballer to score in European Cup history.

After the first goal, Jamal Musiala helped Germany score the second goal. German captain Iker Gundogan received the ball in the middle and passed it to Kai Havertz, who was inside the penalty box. Wasting no time, the striker passed it to Musiala who fired a powerful shot into the back of the net.

Germany got a penalty in the 27th minute after Musiala fell inside the penalty box. However, VAR ruled it out for the hosts.A few minutes later, Kimmich delivered a dangerous cross into the penalty box and Gundogan arrived inside the box to direct a header towards the bottom corner, but the Scotland goalkeeper made no mistake in clearing it.

In the 44th minute Scots defender Ryan Porteous was sent off the field after the referee saw a red corner following his risky challenge on Gundogan inside the box.

Kai Havertz scored the third goal for the Germans from a spot kick just before the end of the first half. He threw the ball towards the corner of the goal. Germany dominated the first 45 minutes and finished with a 3–0 lead.

In the 57th minute, Musiala broke through the Scotland defense and crossed to Reitz in the box, but to no avail.In the 68th minute, Musiala threw the ball down the left side and cut to the right, and passed it to Gundogan, who passed it to Nicklas Fulkrug, and the striker made no mistake in firing a sharp shot. The top corner gave Germany a 4-0 lead.

A few minutes later, Germany scored another goal, but the hosts were disappointed as it was ruled out by VAR due to Fulkrug being offside.

After guarding the German defense throughout the match, Antonio Rüdiger scored an own goal by clearing McKenna's header.

However, Emre Can put the final nail on the coffin when he fired a brilliant shot towards the bottom corner and found the bottom corner of the net.Germany got off to a good start to Euro 2024 after registering a 5-1 win over Scotland in the opening match.

Musiala was named player of the match after consistent efforts inside the Scotland box.
