New Delhi [India], Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those killed in the Rudraprayag tempo traveler accident.

On Saturday, 12 people, including 26 passengers, were killed and 14 injured when a tempo traveler fell into a deep gorge on the Badrinath Highway in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.

"The next of kin of each deceased will be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF. The injured will be given Rs 50,000," the Prime Minister's Office said on Twitter.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met the people injured in the Rudraprayag tempo traveler accident at AIIMS Rishikesh.

“It is very important that the injured receive proper treatment.Their families are being informed one by one. We have made all arrangements to ensure that he gets all the necessary treatment. I have directed an investigation into this (accident)," he said.

As per the instructions of SDRF Commander Manikant Mishra, two teams of 14 members of SDRF from Post Ratura and Agastyamuni immediately left for the spot with rescue equipment.

The vehicle carrying 26 passengers who had come here for the Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila yatra went out of control and crashed into a ditch about 500 meters below the main road.SDRF teams led by SI Bhagat Singh Kandari and SI Dharmendra Panwar reached the spot and worked hard in extremely difficult conditions and conducted a joint rescue operation with the local police and people, during which 14 injured were rescued and sent to District Hospital, Rudraprayag. Went. , by ambulance, from where seven seriously injured people were airlifted to Higher Centre, AIIMS Rishikesh.12 people died on the spot, whose bodies were also taken to the main road and handed over to the district police.

An SDRF team led by Inspector Kavindra Sajwan was present at AIIMS Rishikesh, which airlifted the injured by helicopter and took them to the hospital.
