New Delhi [India], Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme during his visit to Varanasi on Tuesday, which will provide benefits worth over Rs 20,000 crore to over 9.26 crore farmers.

The Prime Minister will also distribute certificates to over 30,000 self-help groups trained as Krishi Sakhi to work as Para Extension workers.

This program is being organized by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in coordination with the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

After assuming power for the third term, PM Modi approved the release of the 17th installment of PM Kisan Nidhi, which aims to benefit 9.3 crore farmers and disburse around Rs 20,000 crore.

To meet the financial needs of all land-holding farmers subject to certain exclusion criteria of high income status, PM-KISAN scheme was launched in 2019.A financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred to the bank accounts of farmer families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode in three equal installments every four months.

So far, over Rs 3.04 lakh crore has been paid to more than 11 crore farmers across the country and with this release, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the inception of the scheme will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore. .

Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan explained in detail about PM Modi's program in Varanasi.

During a press conference, Chouhan said the 17th installment of PM Kisan, worth over Rs 20,000 crore, will be distributed to over 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers by the Prime Minister with a click of a button from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

The four-time chief minister, who was recently sworn in as the Union Agriculture Minister, said around 2.5 crore farmers from across the country would participate in the programme. Additionally, 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), more than 1 lakh primary agricultural cooperative societies and 5 lakh Common Service Centers (CSCs) from across the country will also participate in the program to increase awareness among farmers.“This financial assistance will assist farmers in meeting their agricultural and other relevant needs. The farmer-centric digital infrastructure has ensured that the benefits of the scheme reach all farmers across the country without the involvement of middlemen. Registration of beneficiaries And maintaining complete transparency in verification, Chouhan said, the Government of India has paid more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers across the country.

"With this release, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the launch of the scheme will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore," he said.

Several Union ministers will also visit 50 KVKs to interact with farmers and raise awareness about various schemes of the department.He said that he will also distribute certificates to the trained Krishi Sakhis of the area.

Krishi Sakhis have already received extensive training in various farming practices, enabling them to effectively support and guide fellow farmers. To date, more than 34,000 Krishi Sakhis out of 70,000 have been certified as para-extension workers.Later in the day, at around 7 pm, Prime Minister Modi will also watch Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. He will perform puja and darshan at Kashi Vishwanath temple at around 8 pm.
