The encounter took place at Saida Sukhal village in Hiranagar area of ​​Kathua district, near the international border, on June 12, and left two unidentified terrorists and one CRPF jawan dead, and one civilian injured. .

The DGP, flanked by Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGP) MK Sinha and Anand Jain, regularized the SPOs with constable ranks and appointment letters at a function organized by the district police. The OPPs who were regularized include Amit Sharma, Karanveer Singh, Sumeet Verma, Anil Choudhary, Sham Lal, Pankaj Sharma, Mukesh Rajput, Lovepreet Jatt and Sahil Singh.

"The SPOs were regularized for the good work they did. We have an SPO component in the police which needs to be taken care of separately and in fast forward mode. We went out of the usual procedure to regularize them on a fast track to reward them," said the DGP Swain to journalists.

He emphasized that when determination is strong, people come together. "SPOs are working well. We have an SOP to bring everyone together, whether they are SPOs or not, through conversion or felicitation," he said.

The DGP also appreciated the role of other police officers and said medals and awards for other constables or officers would be proposed separately.

He said senior police leaders have decided to strengthen village defense groups in Kathua and other areas. "The OPP will also be strengthened," he added.

The DGP recalled his tenure as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kathua district and praised the locals for their patriotism and bravery. "There is a feeling of coming home. When I travel from here, I feel happy. My heart is full of happiness because Kathua is a place where people are always full of patriotism. I have served here as SSP for two years and I have seen people with a strong commitment to safeguarding their country, it is a natural behavior among them," he stated.

Furthermore, she told stories that people told her about the wars of 1965 and 1971 and how the people of Kathua stood firm against the enemy and fully supported the armed forces.
