Shimla: Rain lashed parts of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday and an "orange alert" was issued for heavy rain and storm in the state from June 30 to July 2, the meteorological center said here.

The weather center said 62.4 mm rainfall in Dharampur, 52.4 mm in Dharamshala, 39 mm in Kasauli, 33.6 mm in Jubbarhatti, 20 mm in Baijnath, 17 mm in Tissa, 13 mm in Sainj, 11.2 mm in Shimla, 10.2 mm in Solan and Chopal received 10 mm of rain.

According to data provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre, three roads were closed for traffic in Kangra, Kullu and Kinnaur districts and 76 transformers were disrupted in the state.

The weather center has also warned of damage to plantations, horticulture and standing crops and damage to weak structures, kutcha houses and huts due to strong winds and rain.
