New Delhi [India], Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lok Sabha election campaign in Maharashtra's Nandurbar, the Congress on Friday asked him a series of questions, asking why the BJP has deprived tribal communities of their land rights, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh also asked why the BJP government is not able to deal with the unemployment issues in Maharashtra. In a post on X, Jairam Ramesh wrote, "Why has BJP deprived tribal communities of their land rights? An average of 7 farmers are committing suicide every day in Maharashtra. What is the matter?" What is BJ's so-called double engine government doing to stop this? Elaborating on the questions, the Congress leader said, “In 2006, Congress passed the revolutionary Forest Rights Act (FRA). This law gave legal rights to tribal and other forest-dwelling communities to manage their forests and benefit economically from the produce derived from them. But the BJP government is obstructing the implementation of FRA and depriving lakhs of tribals of its benefits.Undoubtedly, the intention of the BJP government behind doing this is to hand over our forests to the corporate friends of the Prime Minister. The data shows how the BJP government is hindering the implementation of FRA and depriving lakhs of tribals of its benefits. In Maharashtra, only 52 per cent (2,06 claims) of the total 4,01,046 individual claims filed have been approved. Out of the 50,045 sq km of land distributed under it, only 23.5 per cent (11,769 sq km) of ownership is eligible for community rights. Why is the BJP government of Maharashtra snatching away the rights of the tribal communities of the state? “On an average, seven farmers are forced to commit suicide every day in Maharashtra. This heart-wrenching figure has come from the state's Relief Rehabilitation Minister. He said that between January and October last year, 2,366 farmers had committed suicide. He also said that the state government gives Rs 1 lakh to the families of farmers who die by suicide, but it is the insensitivity of the government that forces farmers to take such drastic steps, even if the Prime Minister wants to hide it, last year. 60 percent of the farmers of the district were committing suicide and were suffering from drought, but no help was received from the government. When crops were ruined due to unseasonal rains in more than half of the state, loan waiver facility was given to the farmers, but due to a glitch in the software, 6.5 lakh farmers got the facility of loan waiver. Deprived of this relief - but loans worth Rs 11 lakh crore of the Prime Minister's capitalist friends waived off, what vision does BJ have for the well-being of farmers of Maharashtra and India?" Ramesh asked, on the other hand, the Congress' 'Nyaya Patra' promises to give MSP to farmers as per the recommendations of 'Swaminathan Commission' and also promises to set up a permanent loan commission for settlement of all crop insurance claims within 30 days. Highlighting the unemployment figures, Jairam Ramesh accused PM Modi of failing to deal with unemployment issues in Maharashtra. "According to the National Crime Records Bureau, two youths committed suicide in Maharashtra. .Suicides every day due to unemployment. Experts hold the government's mismanagement responsible for the current employment crisis, the latest being the paper leak that has affected almost all competitive exams. He said hundreds of PhD holders boycotted the Common Entrance Test (CET) as they saw that the exam The question papers were not sealed properly. The exam was canceled once in late December when the question paper turned out to be similar to that of the 2019 SET exam. “The BJP and its allies are completely irresponsible and have put the future of lakhs of students at risk. There are 2.5 lakh vacancies in the state, why has the Prime Minister failed to create opportunities for the youth of Maharashtra? In its 2024 Nyay Patra, the Congress Party has guaranteed freedom from paper leaks by making new laws to stop paper leaks. We have also introduced a new Apprenticeship Rights Act to guarantee 1 year of employment to those who graduate under the age of 25. What is the BJP doing to ensure the prosperity and security of young India?'' the Congress leader asked PM Modi will hold a public meeting in Nandurbar district on May 10.During his Maharashtra tour today, the Prime Minister will campaign in support of BJP candidate, MP Heena Gavit, who has been fielded against Congress candidate Gowal Padvi, son of former state minister KC Padvi, in the fourth phase, which will be held on May 13. Voting will be held in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra, which include Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Raver, Jalna, Aurangabad, Maval, Pune, Shirur, Ahmednagar, Shirdi and Beed, to be announced on June 4.
