Los Angeles [US], Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd will be seen sharing screen space in 'Power Ballad', a musical comedy from director John Carney. As Variety reports, shooting is currently underway in Dublin. The official logline for the film reads, "A musical-based story about a wedding singer, a rock star, and the song that comes between them, the script comes from Carney and Peter McDonald (The Bachelor Weekend), with Nick and Rudd producing. On working together, Carney said, "I've been working on this script with my friend Peter for years, and now Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are in my kitchen. Additionally, 30West, WME Independent and UTA Independent Film Group are preparing to sell the film at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. “We are very excited to bring John Carney's next film to Cannes. John has a magical ability to weave great musicals." WME's Alex Walton said, "wonderfully engaging and universally relatable stories that heighten audiences' emotions." We will give buyers exactly what they are looking for. ," Walton said Jonas, herself a pop star with the Jonas Brothers, has onscreen credits that include the Jumanji films and the World War II drama Midway. Rudd is currently in theaters with the Ghostbusters film Frozen Empire and her upcoming credits include the indie film Friendship starring Tim Robinson and Kate Mara and A24's Death O' a Unicorn with Jenna Ortega.
