Thane, Navi Mumbai Police have registered a case against a man for defrauding 27 people of over Rs 2 crore by promising them jobs in the Reserve Bank of India. An official gave this information on Friday.

Sadanand Bhosale (41), a resident of Airoli, lured the victims by promising that he would get them jobs as security guards in RBI. Citing the complaint, the official SAI said Bhosale allegedly collected Rs 2.2 crore from them between September 2020 and September 2021.

However, the victims neither got the jobs as promised nor got their money back.

Acting on a complaint filed on behalf of all the victims, Kharghar police on Thursday booked Bhosale under a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust under the Indian Penal Code.

The officer said that the reason for coming late to the police was not mentioned in the complaint.

Meanwhile, Unit III of the Crime Branch of Navi Mumbai Police has now taken over the investigation, he said.
