Noida: Following the directions of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, Noida Police is actively patrolling flood prone areas to inform residents about weather warnings and urge them to shift to safe places.

Additional DCP Noida Manish Kumar Mishra said, "We are continuously patrolling the flood-affected areas in Noida, informing residents about the warnings issued by the weather department and urging them to move to safe places."

He said, this warning has been given because there is a possibility of heavy rain during the monsoon season and rise in water level in Yamuna river.

Noida, located along the flood plains of the Yamuna and Hindon rivers, is particularly vulnerable to floods during monsoons.

In 2023, severe flooding affected the region, causing significant disruption.

"In view of the rising water level in Yamuna river, we are coordinating with other concerned departments to ensure safe rehabilitation of people, their essential goods and livestock," Mishra said.

He said the police, along with other departments, are actively engaging with the community to raise awareness and facilitate evacuation.

“We are personally visiting flood-affected areas to keep the public informed and prepared,” Mishra said.

In July last year, Gautam Buddh Nagar adjacent to Delhi was hit by floods, mostly along the banks of Yamuna river in Noida and Greater Noida.

According to official figures in mid-month, about 8,710 people were affected by floods in the district and 4,748 of them were displaced. 6,308 animals were also displaced due to the floods while thousands of hectares of land were submerged in flood waters.
