Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner has issued a stern warning to parents regarding operation of two-wheelers and four-wheelers by persons below 18 years of age.

Police have warned a fine of up to Rs 25,000, possible legal action against parents or guardians of underage drivers, cancellation of vehicle registration for 12 months and no license up to 25 years for the minor for breaking the rules.

This move is part of a broader drive to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic laws, police said in light of several incidents involving minors in Noida, Greater Noida and other parts of the country.

In an official statement released on Tuesday evening, Noida Police emphasized that it is inappropriate and illegal for minors to drive any vehicle.

"No parent should allow their minor children to drive two- or four-wheeled vehicles under any circumstances," the statement said.

Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate Traffic Police is committed to ensuring public safety and has urged parents to prevent their minor children from driving motor vehicles.

Police have reiterated that students under the age of 18 are strictly prohibited from driving without a valid license.

"Parents and guardians are warned not to allow their children to use two-wheelers or four-wheelers. The traffic police will carry out stringent checks as part of this law enforcement drive. Any violation detected will be met with strict action under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicle Act," police said.

The statement details the penalties for underage driving, including possible legal action against parents or guardians under section 125 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, fines of up to Rs 25,000, cancellation of vehicle registration for 12 months and declaration of the minor offender as ineligible for a driving license until age 25.

The Noida Police campaign aims to ensure that road safety norms are followed and the risks associated with underage driving are mitigated.

"The public is urged to comply with these regulations to avoid severe penalties," he added.
