For the by-elections to be held on 10 assembly seats in Balrampur (UP), Uttar Pradesh, BJP-led NDA's constituent Nishad Party has claimed two seats.

Claiming Katehri and Majhwan assembly seats, Nishad Party chief and Uttar Pradesh Fisheries Minister Sanjay Nishad told reporters on Tuesday, "In the elections for 10 assembly seats of the state, two seats Katehri and Majhwan are ours." ''Our seats have been. We will contest the by-elections on both these seats with BJP and other allies and will definitely win."

In the 2022 assembly elections, Vinod Bind of Nishad Party had won the election from Majhwan assembly seat of Mirzapur district. This time Bind contested the Lok Sabha elections from Bhadohi as a BJP candidate and won. After this the Majhwan assembly seat became vacant.

Similarly, Lalji Verma of Samajwadi Party won the Katehari assembly seat of Ambedkar Nagar. In the recently held elections, Verma became MP from Ambedkar Nagar seat, hence Katehari seat also became vacant.

By-elections are to be held on Karhal, Milkypur, Katehari, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Meerapur, Phulpur, Majhawan and Sisamau assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. However, the by-election schedule has not been announced yet.

Sisamau assembly seat has fallen vacant due to the disqualification of SP MLA Irfan Solanki after he was sentenced to jail in a criminal case.

By-elections on the remaining seats have become necessary due to the respective MLAs being elected to the Lok Sabha.
