Nashik: One person was killed and two were injured when vehicles belonging to the state excise department collided in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Monday. Police gave this information.

The accident occurred early in the morning on Chandwad-Lasalgaon road in Chandwad taluka, an official said.

He said that acting on a tip-off, the mobile squad of the State Excise Department laid a trap to stop a car carrying illegal liquor.

The officer said that two vehicles of the State Sports Department chased a car.

One of the government vehicles lost control and overturned, killing the driver and injuring two others, he said.

The police and excise departments are searching for the liquor-laden car, the official said.
