Thane, A 48-year-old man from Navi Mumbai city in Maharashtra has allegedly been duped of Rs 1.07 crore by fraudsters after luring them into share trading for good returns. Police gave this information on Monday.

He said that in this regard, a case was registered against 15 people including the owners of an app and a website on Sunday and it is being investigated.

Nav Mumbai cyber police senior inspector Gajanan Kadam said the fraudsters contacted the victim, a resident of Kharghar, on various occasions between February 13 and May 5, assured him of attractive returns in share trading and allegedly asked him to transfer money to various bank accounts. Got paid.

The man deposited Rs 1,07,09,000 in various bank accounts, but when he asked for returns and refund of the money invested in shares, the fraudsters failed to respond, the officer said.

After realizing that he was defrauded, the man approached the cyber police with a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the police on Sunday registered a case under sections 419 (fraud by impersonation), 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Information Technology Act, the official said.
