Kolkata, Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Sunday expressed optimism about the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and argued that some states have started implementing it.

Meghwal made the remarks while speaking at a conference on 'India's Progressive Path in Administration of Criminal Justice System' here.

Meghwal said, "In the BJP manifesto, we have mentioned about UCC. States like Goa and Uttarakhand have started implementing it. The alliance formed at the Center is a very strong government and there is nothing to worry about." Is."Here on Sunday.

Last week, soon after Meghwal, MP from Bikaner constituency, said that UCC was still on the BJP's agenda, JDU said any such move should come with consensus.

JDU leader KC Tyagi said the party is not against the UCC, but wants such a move to come with a consensus.

The Union Law Minister criticized the incidents of alleged post-poll violence in West Bengal and said that the Central Government is alert about them.

He said that this kind of violence after elections is not good for a democratic country like India.

"Elections are an important part of democracy. There should be no violence after the completion of any election. This (post-poll violence in Bengal) is within our knowledge and the (central) government is also alert (about it) .Meghwal said, there is rule of law in the country, it is not good for democracy.

The BJP on Saturday formed a four-member committee to probe alleged political violence in West Bengal, as the party accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of remaining a mute spectator.

"Mamata Banerjee remains a mute spectator while her party's criminals attack and intimidate opposition workers and voters," a BJP statement said.
