CM Shinde said that Bhondekar's joining Shiv Sena will increase the party's strength in the eastern Vidarbha region ahead of the assembly elections to be held in September-October this year.

Bhondekar had supported Chief Minister Shinde during the change of power in the state two years ago. He was a Shiv Sainik but after not getting a ticket in the 2019 assembly elections, he contested as an independent candidate and won.

CM Shinde said, "Narendra Bhondekar was a Shiv Sainik from the beginning who worked as the district contact chief. Bhondekar, who believed in the ideas of Balasaheb Thackeray, has officially entered Shiv Sena today."
