Kishan Reddy, who is also the state BJP president, thanked Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Piyush Goyal and said that the decision taken by the Center will greatly benefit the farmers of Telangana.

He demanded that the state government should immediately purchase paddy from the farmers by ensuring minimum support price and bonus of Rs 500 per quintal as per its promise without wasting any time.

He said the Center is making every possible effort to ensure that farmers of Telangana benefit.

In May last year, the Center had agreed to purchase 6.8 lakh tonnes of parboiled rice from the state for the Kharif season 2022-23. This was in addition to 13.7 lakh tonnes of parboiled rice for Rabi 2021-22 and Kharif 2022-23.
