The Food Processing Industries Minister further said that in the next five years, his ministry will work on reducing wastage of vegetables, fruits and other products.

Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha said that the inauguration of the new campus of Nalanda University is a historic day for Bihar and the entire country.

The Prime Minister said that Nalanda is not limited to the renaissance of India's past, but the heritage of various countries of the world and Asia is linked to it.

During ancient times, admission to Nalanda University was not based on the nationality of the student. People here from different walks of life used to come here in search of education, PM Modi said.

The new campus at Nalanda has two academic blocks with 40 classrooms each, with a total seating capacity of about 1900.It has two auditoriums each with a capacity of 300 seats. It has a student hostel with a capacity of about 550 students. It also has several other facilities, including an international centre, an amphitheater that can accommodate 2000 persons, a faculty club and a sports complex.

The campus is a 'Net Zero' green campus. It is self-sufficient with solar plants, domestic and drinking water treatment plants, a water recycling plant for reusing waste water, 100 acres of water bodies and many other eco-friendly facilities.The university is envisioned as a collaboration between India and the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries. It has a deep connection with history.
