Agartala (Tripura) [India], Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the central government has been implementing various schemes for the benefit of students and for the development of the education system.

Saha said this while inaugurating the District Institution of Education and Training (DIET) at Jalbasa, Panisagar in North District of Tripura.

"Previously we had four District Education and Training Institutes and now, with this addition, we have five. The success of a society depends on the education of its people. Education is one of our priority departments. Just yesterday we held a meeting to identify some of our weaknesses and asked all the educators who attended the meeting for advice to improve education. There is no alternative to education and there is no end to knowledge," Saha said.

He mentioned that Prime Minister Modi is implementing new plans for the development of the country and the education system.

"He has introduced the National Education Policy, which we have also started implementing in our education department so that students can keep up with the rest of the nation. In the financial year 2023-24, the central government allocated 1 lakh 12 1,899 crore, this allocation underlines how much Prime Minister Modi emphasizes education,” Saha said.

He also pointed out that Rs 128 crore has been sanctioned for the Vidya Pravesh programme, a three-month game-based school preparation module.

"Our government is also planning to start this programme, which is based on sports and games. The government has a plan for this. PM e-Vidya, related to digital/online/on-air education, was also launched. The DISHA was also launched. has implemented the plan. The main objective of DIET is to provide better training to teachers," Saha said.

Saha, who is also the state education minister, said the state government is working to modernize infrastructure for students.

"I always emphasize the importance of infrastructure and manpower. Recently, we inaugurated a new school building in Gandacherra, opened a new school building in the Southern District and inaugurated a girls' hostel in Sonamura," he added.
