Harare, After drilling a 47-ball hundred, young batsman Abhishek Sharma said he continued to believe in his batting ability despite going out for a duck on his international debut on Saturday.

Abhishek announced his arrival on the big stage when his 100 took India to 234 for 2 before the visitors bowled out the hosts for 134 in 18.4 overs for a huge 100-run win here on Sunday.

India thus tied the five-match series 1-1 after losing the first match by 13 runs.

"I feel like if it's your day, you express yourself. After the fall, I thought it was my day and I have to take responsibility," Sharma said at the post-match presentation.

"Rutu (captain) helped me keep perspective. I always believe in my (batting) ability. For me it is about momentum. If it is on target, I think I need to hit it no matter when it is," he added. .

Sharma praised his team's ability to recover quickly from a setback that occurred just a day ago.

"It was a good performance after yesterday's defeat. We didn't have much time to grieve. I felt T20 is all about momentum and I thought today was my day. Special thanks to the coaches and captain for keeping the confidence (on me)," said Abhishek, who was named player of the match.

India captain Shubman Gill said the team felt good to get back to winning ways and praised Abhishek and Ruturaj Gaikwad for their great partnership.

"It wasn't easy to bat in the powerplay. Abhi and Rutu put together an innings brilliantly. Hopefully, the batsmen will continue to fire in the coming games," Gill said.

"Yesterday was more about us not being able to withstand the pressure. Ours is a young team. In fact, it was good to have pressure in the first game and we knew what to expect today."

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza admitted that "world champions will eventually play like world champions."

"I thought our fielding was bad, losing four chances hurt us. I was expecting 200 on that wicket and it would improve in the second innings. They got an extra 20. I thought it would be a close game going into the chase. But it wasn't like that," he said.

Raza hoped to see more runs from his best hitters.

"Our main order is not to shoot. Blessing (Muzarabani) has come in leaps and bounds, he is very hungry. As long as he stays fit, he will bowl well.

"We've talked about hitting for a while. It's easier to fix when there's a pattern. We came out firing today, a lot of the problems came down to inexperience," he added.
