Mendhar/Poonch: People living near the LoC (Line of Control) in Mendhar sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir should not venture into forest areas during night wearing shawls or blankets to avoid any untoward incident, an official said. Has been asked for.

However, an order issued by Mendhar sub-divisional magistrate Imran Rashid Kataria said that in case of emergency, they have been asked to take prior permission from the concerned army or police unit.

The order was issued after the Army raised concerns over some citizens going into forest areas or fields at night wearing shawls or blankets.

“Whereas, various security agencies often conduct search operations in forest areas along the Line of Control during odd hours to deal with anti-national or anti-social activities by miscreants.

“In this context, the general public is informed through this circular that no person shall enter or roam in the forest areas wearing a shawl or blanket between 9 pm to 4 am without prior permission from the concerned Army. Police officers to avoid any accident/unpleasant incident,” reads the order.

Last week, the Army had detained three people roaming suspiciously from different forward areas of Mendhar sector. 6/2/2024 MNK
