In a report, the military said the alleged Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) terrorist was killed on Saturday morning after a five-minute clash in the village of Datu Salibo town after receiving information from villagers about the presence of militants in the area. Xinhua news agency gave this information.

According to reports, troops seized 45 caliber pistols and explosives from the clash site.

The BIFF, a small armed group linked to the Islamic State group, is responsible for bombings and other atrocities in the Central Mindanao region in the southern Philippines.

The group split from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front when Leyte agreed to negotiate a peace deal with the government in 2014.
