Paris [France], World number one female tennis star Iga Swiatek successfully defended her French Open title on Saturday and won her fourth and third consecutive Roland Garros title by defeating Italy's Jasmine Paolini in the title match.

According to Olympics.com, Swiatek secured a hat-trick of titles by defeating her Italian opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

The Polish star was a big favorite in the competition as she had won all four of her previous Grand Slam title matches, the US Open in 2022 and Roland-Garros in 2020, 2022 and 2023. By winning his fourth title in France, he is five titles away from surpassing the record holder Chris Evert of the United States (seven titles).

Paolini made a bright start in her first Grand Slam final and got the first break of the game which put Swiatek on the back foot. However, Swiatek really found her rhythm and dominated the rest of the match by moving her opponent around the court. Paolini held serve in the sixth game and added some respectability to the scoreline, but Swiatek was able to win the game.

However, Paolini will have another chance for French Open glory as she will play alongside Sara Errani against Coco Gauff and Katerina Siniakova in the women's doubles final.

"It's amazing to be here. I love this place so much, every year I can't wait to come back here," Swiatek said after the match, as quoted by Olympics.

"I was almost eliminated from the tournament in the second round. So thank you for cheering me on. I also needed to believe that it was possible. It has been an emotional tournament," she said.
