According to Iranian Ambassador to Syria Hossein Akbari, more than 6,000 of the approximately 12,000 Iranian residents in Syria are eligible to vote, Xinhua news agency reported.

Akbari told reporters at the Iranian Embassy, ​​one of Syria's polling stations, that seven polling stations and one mobile ballot box have been set up for special circumstances in Syria to accommodate voters.

Voting is scheduled from 8 am to 8 pm. According to the ambassador, there is a provision to extend the time if necessary, according to local time on Friday.

"Citizens are participating in these elections with complete freedom to vote for their favorite candidate," Akbari said.
