Thrissur (Kerala): The opposition Congress in Kerala on Tuesday attacked the ruling CPI (M) in the state for allegedly running a communal campaign in Vadakara constituency during the Lok Sabha elections, which will "embarrass even the Sangh Parivar".

Leader of opposition in the state assembly V D Satheesan also alleged that the CPI(M) would not hesitate to play any dirty game to win in Kerala.

He alleged that an "infidel" campaign was launched in Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency by local CPI(M) leaders and workers. “However, the blame was placed on UDF candidate Shafi Parambil and a youth league member,” he told reporters here.

Satheesan Vadakara was referring to a social media post put out ahead of the elections that allegedly asked people not to vote for LDF candidate KK Shailaja because she was an "infidel".The opposition leader claimed that now the police has also accepted that the Youth League member accused of posting the social media post has no role in it.

"The people of Kerala need to understand that CPI(M) will not hesitate to play any dirty game to win," he said. He said the Left party was being "disrespectful" and would meet the same fate in Kerala as it did in West Bengal and Tripura.

Regarding the Kerala High Court issuing notice to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalandan's plea for vigilance probe against the Marxist stalwart, Satheesan said the UDF is telling the people that the LDF government in the state is corrupt. ,
