New Delhi, National senior meet finalist Tanvi Sharma will lead India's challenge at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships to be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from June 28.

The 18-member squad also includes players like junior national ranking champions Prannoy Shettigar and Alisha Naik of Maharashtra, top-ranked Indian juniors Dhruv Negi and Navya Kanderi, who will compete in both girls' singles and doubles.

India have been placed in Group C of the mixed team championship along with hosts Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines and will be aiming to top the group with an eye on a favorable knock-out draw.

The Indian team, selected by the BAI after intensive selection trials ahead of the All India Ranking Tournament, had a preparatory camp at the National Center of Excellence in Guwahati before leaving for Indonesia on Tuesday.

The individual championship will be played immediately after the team event. India will field four singles players in the boys' and girls' categories and two pairs each in the boys', girls' and mixed categories.

BAI Secretary General Sanjay commented, "We have a very strong and balanced team with singles and doubles players who have immense experience of playing on the national and international stage. We are confident that the team will return from Indonesia with medals." Mishra.

India has won two gold, one silver and six bronze medals so far in the history of the competition.

Girls' Doubles: Gayatri Rawat/Mansa Rawat and Navya Kanderi/Reshika Yu

Mixed Doubles: Bhargava Ram Arigella/Vennala K and Vansh Dev/Sravani Walekar.
