Sukma, Security personnel seized a gun and Maoist-related material after an encounter in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Police gave this information.

The encounter took place around 8 am on a wooded hill near Karanguda village under Chintalnar police station when a joint team of security personnel was on an anti-Naxal operation, a police officer here said.

He said the operation was launched on Monday, involving personnel of the District Reserve Guard of the state police, Bastar Fighters and 206th battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA - an elite unit of the CRPF).

The officer said that seeing the security personnel coming towards them, the Naxalites fled into the dense forests.

Later, a muzzle loading gun and Maoist related material were recovered from the encounter site, he said.
