New Delhi, days after a man was run over by a water tanker on a flooded street in Delhi's Sangam Vihar area, a CCTV image of the incident has emerged online.

A group of people allegedly attacked a water tanker with stones in Delhi's Sangam Vihar area on Thursday, triggering a chain of events in which one man was killed and another injured, police said.

One of the attackers died after being run over by the tanker, while a bystander was allegedly stabbed by one of the attackers and is currently hospitalized, they said.

A CCTV image of the incident appeared on social media.

According to a police officer, an autorickshaw broke down in a flooded narrow street in Sangam Vihar and its occupants were busy repairing it. A water tanker reached the waterlogged spot, splashing rainwater on the group of people near the autorickshaw, the officer said.

Angry with the water tanker driver, three to four men are seen allegedly attacking the water tanker with stones in the two-minute CCTV footage. Initially, the attackers tried to remove the driver from the vehicle, the video shows.

Under attack by the group, the tanker truck driver waited for a while, but when the attack did not stop, he was seen speeding away and running over one of the attackers.

The driver of the car, Bablu Ahmed, who was a passerby, was allegedly stabbed to death after questioning the need to attack the tanker, police said.

The tanker driver Sapan Singh (35) fled the scene, while Shahdab alias Saddam was gunned down in the incident, the officer said.

Saddam was rushed to Batra hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the tanker fled, leaving the vehicle a short distance from the scene, police said.

Bablu Ahmed was rushed to Majeedia Hospital, from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital. He is under treatment.

Another police officer said three separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the case and two people, including the tanker driver, have been arrested so far. Further investigation was underway, police said.
