The new symbol will replace the one adopted in 2014 when Telangana came into existence as the 29th state.

The new emblem will be unveiled at the 10th State Foundation Day celebrations on June 2.

The Congress government that came to power in December 2023 decided to change the existing emblem, which depicts Kakatiya art Thoranam and Charminar, symbols of the Kakatiya and Qutb Shahi dynasties.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to change the symbol as he believes that the existing symbol symbolizes the aristocracy and dictatorship of the previous rulers.

As part of this exercise, he held a meeting with renowned artist Rudra Rajesham, who presented 12 draft designs.

During the meeting held on Monday, the Chief Minister reportedly suggested some more changes in the symbol design.

Revanth Reddy wants a design that reflects the Telangana movement and the sacrifices of the martyrs.

Changing the symbol was one of the major decisions taken by the Congress government, reversing the decisions of the previous BRS government.

It replaced 'TS' with 'TG' as the state abbreviation. Previous BRS governments had adopted 'TS' as the abbreviation.

The new government also decided to change the Telangana Talli statue to reflect the sentiments of the Telangana people.

The government also adopted Andy Sri's 'Jaya Jaya Hey Telangana' as the state anthem.

Revanth Reddy collaborated with Oscar-winning composer M.M. Have added it with you. Keeravani has composed the music for the state anthem which will be unveiled on June 2.

The Chief Minister held a meeting with Keeravani and Andy Sri on Sunday and suggested some changes in the national anthem.
