Gros Islet [St. Lucia], Star India batsman and captain Rohit Sharma equaled Babar Azam's remarkable milestone of most wins as captain in T20Is.

Rohit Sharma achieved the elusive feat after India's 24-run win over Australia in the Super Eight match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.

Currently, Rohit Sharma has played 60 matches in the T20I format and led India to 48 wins. Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babar Azam led the Men in Green in 85 matches and managed to achieve 48 wins.

Uganda captain Brian Masaba is third in the charts after leading his team to 45 wins in the 20-over format.

Rohit Sharma (32 runs on 41 balls, 7 fours and 8 sixes) played a brilliant innings with a strike rate of 224.39. Thanks to Rohit's captaincy innings, India scored 205/5 runs on the scoreboard in the first innings. Suryakumar Yadav (31 runs on 16 balls, 3 fours and 2 sixes) and Hardik Pandya (27* runs on 17 balls, 1 four and 2 sixes) played supporting roles and gave strong targets.

Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis led the Australian bowling attack, taking two wickets each in their respective spells.

During the run chase, Travis Head (76 runs off 43 balls, 9 fours and 4 sixes) played a dangerous innings, but Jasprit Bumrah dismissed the Australian opener in the 17th over. Mitchell Marsh (37 runs off 28 balls, 3 fours and 2 sixes) also tried his best to chase the target of 206 runs but failed in front of the Indian bowling attack.

Arshdeep Singh led the Indian bowling attack, taking three wickets in his four-over spell and helping India win the match by 24 runs.
