Addressing an Indian diaspora event in Moscow, Prime Minister Modi said: "I am happy that India and Russia are working shoulder to shoulder to re-energise global prosperity. "In the last decade, this is the sixth time I have come to Russia. In these years, we have met 17 times. These meetings have increased trust and respect. When Indian students were caught in the conflict, President Putin helped bring them back to India," the Prime Minister said, while thanking "friend" Putin and the people of Russia.

Recalling the contribution of Bollywood in strengthening the friendship between the two nations, the Prime Minister said, "Once a song was sung in every home, 'Sir pe laal topi Rusi, phir bhi dil hai Hindustani'... Additionally, Prime Minister Modi also announced that India will open two new consulates in Russia, in Kazan and Yekaterinburg, joining those in St. Petersburg and Vladivostok, in addition to the embassy in Moscow.
