Thane, a 40-year-old driver from Jalore in Rajasthan has been arrested by the Neo Mumbai Police for transporting petroleum products to Maharashtra without the necessary permits.
A case has been registered against Piru Tayyan Khan under the Essential Commodities Act, Motor Spirit and High Speed Diesel AC and Petroleum Act at Kalamboli police station in Raigad district, an official said.
During checking on Shil-Phata Panvel Road near Kalamboli on Monday, police spotted the tanker driven by Khan, which was carrying 40,000 liters of dye worth Rs 36 lakh, and seized it, the official said.
Three others have also been named as wanted accused in the FIR and further investigation is underway, he said.
