Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday said a provision of Rs 96,000 crore has been made in the budget for the welfare of farmers and said the state government is committed to making farmers prosperous and improving their standard of living.

Addressing a felicitation and gratitude ceremony organized by a farmers organization for the agriculture related announcements in the revised budget of 2024-25, Sharma enumerated the works of the BJP government which will benefit the farmers.

According to an official statement, the Chief Minister said that the Central and Madhya Pradesh governments signed an agreement on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) as soon as the BJP government was formed in the state.

Yamuna Water Agreement was also formalized to benefit Shekhawati region.

Taking aim at Congress, Sharma said that the previous government did not even approach the Central or Haryana government for this.

He said, those who ruled the country for the longest time never cared for the farmers and discriminated between villages and cities.

Sharma said that increasing the Kisan Samman Nidhi from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000, increasing the MSP of wheat and giving loans up to Rs 1 lakh to cattle farmers through Gopal Credit Card shows the government's commitment towards the rural economy.

He said, projects worth Rs 50,000 crore have been announced under Rajasthan Irrigation Water Grid Mission and Rs 30,000 crore under Run Off Water Grid.

Sharma said that projects worth Rs 650 crore will also be done under Rajasthan Agricultural Development Scheme.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Chaudhary, MP CP Joshi, Devnarayan Board Chairman Omprakash Bhadana participated in the program.
