Now, more evidence has emerged confirming the aviation minister's claims.

The umbrella falling incident at Delhi airport resulted in a political blame game, with the Congress accusing the BJP government of 'promoting low-quality infrastructure' and compromising the country's resources.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the incident highlights the Prime Minister's tall claims and the BJP's promise of creating 'world-class infrastructure'.

Now, some newspaper clippings and videos from 2009 have surfaced which show that the structure was 'damaged' soon after the inauguration.

BJP IT cell chief, Amit Malviya, went on Twitter and shared some 2009 news articles about the government's investigation into the damage at the airport's Terminal 1.

“Terminal 1 was built and operated in 2009 and its workmanship was very poor, as it could not withstand heavy rain. The first inquiry was ordered way back in 2009,” he said.

Malviya further said that despite the structure being built and damaged during the Congress-led UPA rule, it "has the courage to blame the BJP."

Some news video clips from 2009 have also gone viral on social media, showing a part being damaged due to rain.

News clipping (of July 29, 2009) shows rain water seeping from the structure and a portion collapsing.

The evidence linking Terminal 1 to the UPA also exposes the 'lies' of Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi who allegedly claimed that it was inaugurated by PM Modi recently.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Minister also rejected the 'misinformation' of Congress leaders and told reporters that not Terminal 1 but some other building of the airport was inaugurated by PM Modi some time ago.
