Justice Sanjeev Naurla passed an interim order on Star India Pvt Ltd's suit against several rogue websites that were likely to be involved in unauthorized dissemination of cricket matches on their platforms.

Star India said it has media rights for various sporting events, including domestic and international cricket matches organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

It said that based on previous examples of illegal dissemination of major sporting events, there was a strong apprehension that some online platforms could engage in such unauthorized streaming of the T20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies from June 2 to June 24. .
