New Delhi: A six-year-old boy died after a part of the roof of an old building collapsed in the Harsh Vihar area of ​​the national capital on Sunday.

The child was playing on the terrace when this incident happened in the evening. He said he suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

He said that a case has been registered against the building owner Ramji Lal, who is absconding.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said, "Around 5 pm we received information about the collapse of a building in Pratap Nagar area. The caller, Santosh Kumar, told the police that his son had died."

"The boy was playing on the roof of the old building when a part of it collapsed. He was taken to GTB hospital, where he was declared brought dead," the DCP said. He told that no construction work was going on.

Police said Kumar and his family were living as tenants in the building, while Lal occupied the ground floor.

“A case is being registered against the owner and further investigation is underway,” the DCP said.
