New Delhi, Delhi Capitals returned to winning ways with an impressive 20-run win over Rajasthan Royals here on Tuesday and kept their IPL playoff hopes alive.

After Rajasthan Royals entered the field, Tristan Stubbs played a quick inning of 41 runs in 20 balls, taking Delhi Capitals to 221/8.

In reply, Rajasthan Royals were restricted to 201 for 8, with Delhi's pick of the bowlers being Kuldeep Yadav, who returned with 2/25. Khalil Ahmed (2/47) and Mukesh Kumar (2/30) also took two wickets each.

Delhi now joins Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants with 12 points in the mid-table race for the playoffs.

Captain Sanju Samson led Rajasthan in the chase with his fifth half-century of the season.

But his brilliant innings of 86 off 46 balls (8x4, 6x6) ended after a controversial catch by Sha Hope at the long-on boundary.

After this, Kuldeep almost dashed Rajasthan's hopes by delivering a double blow in his final over.

Earlier, Jake Fraser-McGurk (50 off 20 balls) and Abhishek Porel (65; pair of 36 balls) added 60 runs in just 26 balls before the fall of India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (3/24).
