New Delhi: Four members of a family died of suffocation in a house fire in outer Delhi's Prem Nagar area, a Delhi Fire Service official said on Tuesday.

He said the department received information about the fire around 3.30 am and two fire tenders were sent to the spot.

According to the official, the fire was caused by an inverter and it spread to the adjacent sofa on the first floor of the building, injuring all four people due to smoke.

He said he was rescued by fire service personnel and taken to Rao Tularam Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
