Ranchi: The Class 12 results of Science, Commerce and Arts stream exams conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) were declared on Tuesday, with 85.48 per cent students passing the exam.

JAC Chairman Anil Mahato declared the results in the presence of State School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Uma Shankar Singh.

Mahato said that 72.70 percent students in Science, 90.60 percent in Commerce and the highest 93.16 percent in Arts passed the examination.

However, the results dropped by about three percent compared to last year. The overall result in all three streams in 2023 was 88.67 percent.

Girls have emerged victorious in two streams - Arts and Commerce, while in Science stream, boys have outperformed girls by a negligible margin. The pass percentage of girls in Arts and Commerce was 94.22 per cent and 93.46 per cent respectively, while the pass percentage of boys was 91.68 per cent and 88.40 per cent respectively.

In the science stream, 72.72 percent boys passed the exam, while 72.67 percent girls passed the exam.

"In the science stream, the results of Physics and Chemistry were not satisfactory. We need to work on these subjects to improve the results in future," Singh said.

Speaking about the overall decline in results, he said that when the pattern changes, it impacts the results also. "There has been a marginal three per cent decline in the results compared to last year because the exams were not conducted on OMR sheets this time," he said.
