Chaibasa, Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district has sentenced a man to 22 years in jail for raping a girl.
The man, a distant relative of the girl, was a frequent visitor to her house. According to the prosecution, during one such visit on October 11, 2022, he raped the girl while she was sleeping in his room.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge convicted the man under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) Act and sentenced him to 22 years in jail.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.
