Jammu, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain on Thursday briefed police officers deployed for the annual Amarnath Yatra and stressed on enhancing security strategies especially at sensitive spots on the route, officials said.

The 52-day pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high cave temple in south Kashmir will begin on June 29 and end on August 19.

During the meeting, ADGP Jain stressed the importance of vigilance and coordination among the forces to avoid and counter any potential threat, an official spokesperson said.

They also discussed effective traffic regulation plans to manage the flow of pilgrims and vehicles, ensuring minimum disruption and maximum safety.

The concerned officials were directed to coordinate with the traffic department to maintain uninterrupted transit routes.

Techniques to manage large crowds at base camps and en route were also reviewed, the official said, with the ADGP stressing the need to maintain discipline and order to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety and comfort of the pilgrims.

He said contingency plans for natural disasters or emergencies were also discussed.

The spokesperson said police officials were briefed about quick response protocols and the importance of timely coordination with disaster management teams.

The ADGP stressed on collaboration with health departments to set up medical camps on the yatra route and ensure availability of emergency medical services.

He assured that all necessary resources and assistance will be provided to the designated officials to facilitate a successful visit, the official said.
