The incident involved Los Angeles-bound Polar Air Cargo Flight 752, which took off from Narita International Airport just after 10 a.m. local time, Xinhua news agency reported.

The plane turned back and landed at Narita Airport around 11:25 a.m. local time after flames were seen coming from one of its engines, according to local media reports.

There was no report of anyone being injured.

Officials are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the engine fire and ensure the continued safety of all future flights.
